After 8 hours, the budget braid had developed slight “wind knots” near the spool lip. The premium line stayed limp and manageable. For finesse techniques, that lack of memory matters a lot.

My Verdict

• Buy Premium If: You fish tournaments, need maximum sensitivity, or use light lures (under 1/8oz). The difference is real.
• Buy Budget If: You fish heavy cover where you lose lures often, fish casually on weekends, or are just starting out. Spend the savings on more lures.

The Smart Money Move: Put premium line on your primary rod and budget line on your backup. Fish the premium rod 80% of the time, and use the backup for risky spots. That way, you get the best performance where it counts, without breaking the bank.
